Chapter 039
The intervals between attacking orcs are getting shorter, and the time to rest after defeating one is getting shorter and shorter. In the rush to defeat them quickly and get some rest, the accuracy of magic drops even more, and the attacks with swords and spears become rougher and take even more time.
"Hey, let's ask the beastman from earlier for help."
"Are you still a glorious Imperial soldier? You want to ask the civilians for help?"
The one-handed sword soldier retorts to the female soldier who was stabbing with her spear. They are losing a lot of physical strength and mana, and it is obvious that they will be wiped out if they continue like this.
If they are defeated by the orcs, only the female soldier will survive. However, that means that she will be taken back by the orcs, suggesting that she will be in a situation where she'd rather die.
"So, will we be wiped out like this? Or will we run away and cause a flood?"
The one-handed sword soldier remains silent in response to the female soldier's reply. Monsters generally don’t cross dungeon levels, but that changes when someone causes a train.
Monsters chasing an explorer will continue to do so even if the explorer crosses levels. Any monsters they encounter when they flee will join them, and the number and variety of monsters will increase each time the explorer crosses levels.
There's no problem if they go deep, but if they flee to the surface, they'll end up bringing a horde of monsters with them.
When this happens, respawning on the passed levels will stop, and instead all the monsters on that level will head for the surface, causing a flood of monsters on the surface.
It has been confirmed that flooding can also occur when only a small number of monsters are hunted, so unpopular dungeons like this one are thinned out by army units to prevent flooding.
That's what they came here for, so there's no point in them causing the flooding. They probably know that too.
"I'm running out of mana. I can only cast one or two more spells!"
"I guess it's because you're using only flashy spells like a fool! Hey, the beastman from before, if you can hear me, help us!"
Just as the magic skill user was practically out of the fight, the sword user raised the white flag. As expected, when he weighed his pride against the damage caused by the flood, his pride lost.
"I don't want to do it, but I can't let the flooding happen. Well, I'll dance a little."
The approaching orc threw his club at me and attempted to catch me. I dodged it by shifting half my body and cut his arm with my iron fan.
I went behind him and cut both knees, robbing him of his mobility. The orcs kept coming one after the other, so I didn't finish him off and faced the next one.
I avoided the orc that was attacking me with a club, who stopped of trying to capture me, thinking I was too strong, and cut his arm. I kick the orc, who froze in pain, sending it flying, and other orcs get caught up in it.
Using the recoil, I approach another orc and fly through, slicing the neck of the surprised orc.
"What is with that fighting style!"
"It looks more like dancing than fighting... It's beautiful!"
I fought without using [fox fire] or [air walk] to avoid showing my power, but I was able to easily annihilate the group of orcs with just my taijutsu and iron fan. As expected of a body prepared by the Goddess-sama for the purpose of conquering the dungeon.
