Chapter 024
The next day, I bought a map at the counter and entered the dungeon. The maps for each dungeon were sold by the guild, and they have an automatic update service if you buy all floors at once, so I bought it.
For now, up to the tenth floor would be sufficient, but if I were to buy it eventually, it's better to purchase the full pack so that it automatically updates with newly discovered maps.
Thanks to that, my savings have been depleted again. I need to save up for the day I buy weapons. But first, I step into the first floor.
Until yesterday, I had been doing various things in places that were off the shortest route, but today I'm going to the second floor, so I'll take the shortest route. The map is installed on my smartphone, and it shows my current location, which is very helpful.
I arrived at the magic circle to the second floor. I easily killed the charging pigs that attacked me on the way and collected my loot. I entered the magic circle and jumped to the second floor.
The second floor of the 2015 dungeon is a labyrinth. It was a labyrinth with well-arranged passages, just like what you would normally imagine when you hear the word dungeon. I didn't begin exploring, but instead used the magic circle to return to the first floor.
After returning to the first floor, I moved away until I was no longer visible from the magic circle. I then activated my female form and checked my status. It showed that the level I had reached for the 2015 dungeon was the second floor.
Next, I activated my fox spirit form and checked my status. This time, the level I had reached was the first floor. From this, I concluded that while the male and female forms have the same display for levels, the fox spirit form is different.
This information is useful for concealing my true identity. In the unlikely event that I am suspected of being a fox spirit, if I were seen as a fox spirit on a deeper floor and Takimoto Yu's status showed that I had not reached that level, it would prove that we are different person.
Returning to my male form, I returned to the second floor and looked for the enemy on this floor, the Kicking Rabbit. As its name suggests, it moves quickly and unleashes powerful kicks.
In a wide field like the first floor, this enemy would simply do flying kicks, but in a field like this one, they kick the walls and ceiling and move in three dimensions, which is tricky.
It would be a lot easier if the fields of the first and second floors were reversed, but that's not the case. This is one of the reasons why there are so few people in this dungeon.
The rabbit comes running, footsteps echoing, kicking the wall and approaching in a complex trajectory. I block the kick with my gauntlet, and grab the rabbit's foot, which stops it for a moment.
At this point, there's nothing the kicking rabbit can do. I slam it into the wall, dealing damage, and it disappears into light. The kicking rabbit is smaller and faster than the charging pig, but it has less health.
I defeat them with this tactic for a while, and once I get used to its speed, I avoid and counter with an uppercut. My strike, with several times the force of an ordinary human, turns the kicking rabbit into light in one hit.
I've got more loot now, and since it's about time, I decide to head back. The rare drop from the Kicking Rabbit is soft, fluffy fur. I ended up with four pieces, so I'll take some home as souvenirs. This feeling is addictive.
When I got home, I gave the furs to my family, who liked them. If I collect more of them and make a futon, it'll be warm in the winter. But I won't say anything because it would mean I'd spend all my time rabbit hunting on the second floor.
