Chapter 025
"Yu, I'll ask my acquaintances to get you tested, but I don't think you'll be able to get a test done so soon. So feel free to do what you want today."
"Thank you, Dad. I'm going to the dungeon again today."
At breakfast, I tell them that I'm going to the dungeon again today. Mai is disappointed that she can't come to school with me, but as things stand, even if I go to school, I'd have to come right back, so there's nothing I can do about it.
And so I have arrived at the familiar 2015 dungeon. I make it through the first and second floors quickly, and explore the third floor.
The third floor is a labyrinth-type floor, just like the second floor, and the enemy that appears is the Black Iron Bug. It's a scarab beetle* about 30 cm long, named after its shell that's as hard as iron.
Its attack method is to charge forward with momentum, just like the Charging Pig. It's a little faster than a Charging Pig, and it's a little more troublesome than it because it flies.
However, even though its speed is fast, the mass is lighter than that of a charging pig, so the impact of the attack feels almost the same as a charging pig. So if you can stop a charging pig with my gauntlets, I can also stop the Black Iron bugs.
I immediately swat the flying Black Iron bug away. Stepped several times on it and it easily turned into a magic stone.
This time I swatted it away, but when I avoid its charge, the Black Iron bug turns around to charge again. It would be fine if it was a wide space like the first floor, but in a narrow space like this, it would crash into the wall mid-turn and fall, which is a silly development.
The Black Iron bug that fell to the floor used its six legs to change position and try to fly again, but its movements were pitifully slow. So if you just avoided the charge and stepped on when it fell, you could easily defeat it.
If it were a field like the first floor, it could fly around freely and I would have a hard time, but unfortunately this is a labyrinth field. The rare drop was the forewings of a Black Iron bug, an item that doesn't sell for much, so I headed for the fourth floor without making any detours.
The fourth floor is a cave-type field. Though not as narrow as the labyrinth-type, it is narrow and has stalagmites growing here and there.
The monster that appears here is the Lone Wolf. It is fast and attacks by biting and scratching with its claws. As its name suggests, it is a monster that you will always encounter alone.
The Lone Wolf does not immediately charge in, but waits to see what is going on. First, it aims for my leg and bites. I jump to the side to dodge, and it immediately turn around and attack again.
As the Lone Wolf aims for my leg again, I counter with a kick. The kick hits the Lone Wolf, crushing its nose, and the lone wolf was sent flying, but managed to withstand the blow.
I immediately chase after it and kick its defenseless stomach, and turn it into magic stones and fur. I'm lucky to get a rare drop right from the start. This fur can be processed into armor for beginners, so it sells for a slightly higher price.
Judging that I didn't have enough time to go to the fifth floor, I decided to hunt lone wolves on the fourth floor and save up some funds.
*TN: The original name was golden bug (黄金虫) I translated for an equivalent, but it can be referenced as golden bug in the future.
