Chapter 026
My examination will be carried out at a general hospital with the proper equipment. I can't get there right away, so I'll take the train on Thursday and explore the dungeon until then.
The fifth floor is a wilderness field with a good view. There appears the Ambush Snake a snake monster about 50cm long. This snake is not poisonous, but its yellow-brown body makes it hard to spot, and it's troublesome when it sneaks up on you and attacks you by surprise.
If the field is labyrinth or cave type, it stands out because of its color, but if it's a wilderness, forest, or grassland type like this one, it's easy to be taken by surprise.
However, on the other hand, as an enemy that's it only strength. It doesn't have the strength to wrap around and strangle you, and even if it bites, it's not poisonous so it's not fatal. It seems that there are larger, stronger, and poisonous higher-ranking snakes if you go deeper, so perhaps this is practice for them.
I quickly leave and move to the sixth floor. The monster that appears on this labyrinth-style level is a very straightforward-sounding monster called the Blue Bear. Just imagine a bright blue bear.
Like a normal bear, it boasts great strength and stamina, and is also fairly fast. Its fur gives it the defensive power to withstand even the most casual slashing attacks, making it a formidable opponent.
I dodged its flailing arms and landed a low kick to its leg, but my leg just went numb, and it had no effect.
I dodged the blue bear's claw attack, jumped and kicked the wall of the dungeon, bringing its head within range. I spun my body and delivered a spin kick to the side of its head.
As expected, this worked, as the blue bear lost its balance, leaving it defenseless. I landed and jumped again to unleash a spin kick. The blue bear, half-conscious, was unable to dodge and took the kick head on, falling down.
I chased after it, jumped, and with a forward flip, I gained centrifugal force and delivered a powerful heel kick to the blue bear's face. It seems that even the tough blue bear couldn't withstand this much. It disappeared, leaving behind a slightly large magic stone.
Although I managed to win unscathed, this may be the limit of how long my brute force and bare hands can take me. The next level was against goblins, a familiar sight in fantasy, their defense and stamina were inferior to the blue-haired bear's, but I would be encountering them as a group.
It would be best to buy a weapon before proceeding further. So I decided to test whether I could fight against the blue bear using the combat skill of the fox spirit form.
I moved to a dead end where no one would likely come and transformed into a fox spirit. I wasn't sure whether my iron fan would work on the blue-haired bear, but I was hoping for the power of my fox fire.
I encountered it and struck it with the fox fire. The flames engulfed the blue-haired bear in an instant. The blue bear desperately tried to put out the flames by waving both its arms around, but there's no way that will make it go away. Before long, the blue bear was transformed into a magic stone. The offensive power of the fox fire seems to be strong enough to overwhelm the blue bear's defensive powers.
I continue to burn the blue bear after that. It's now just a matter of spotting it and sending out the fox fire, I'm convinced that this will work on even deeper levels.
I return to my male form in a place that is off the shortest route through the levels and head home. Tomorrow I'll try challenging the seventh level in my fox spirit form.
